“It is an immense honor to be named one of the best plastic surgeons in America,” says Dr. Jacono. “I go to great lengths to give my patients the best in bedside manner, ease of communication, and, of course, outcomes. For me, placement on the Newsweek list reflects my lifelong pursuit of excellence in all aspects of aesthetic treatment. It also inspires me to continue doing great work.”

Newsweek’s list breaks surgeons down into five procedural categories: breast augmentation, liposuction, facelift, rhinoplasty, and eyelid surgery. Dr. Jacono ranked highly in all three categories related to the face. Most impressively, he was included as one of the top 5 physicians for facelift surgery.

What, exactly, sets Dr. Jacono apart from the rest? The answer lies not only in his dedication to fantastic care but also in his pursuit of surgical innovations.

Dr. Jacono’s Innovations

Dr. Jacono prides himself on his unique approach to aesthetic surgery. Whereas many other plastic surgeons employ cookie-cutter, “one-size-fits-all” techniques, Dr. Jacono tailors each procedure to the individual. During the consultation, he listens intently to his patient’s needs and wants before suggesting a concrete course of action.

“One of the most important parts of the process is the initial meeting,” says Dr. Jacono. “If I didn’t get to know the patient and inquire about their wishes, I wouldn’t know where to begin. The last thing I want to do is give someone something that they don’t want.”

This unparalleled attention allows Dr. Jacono to complete the surgery with the eye of a master artist. He views the face holistically and understands that small alterations in one part may affect the overall balance.

For this reason, Dr. Jacono shies away from using techniques that limit his ability to sculpt the face perfectly. Early on in his career, he was particularly unhappy with more traditional facelifting methods. Back then, the standard was to separate the skin from the underlying muscle before pulling the skin taut. This made patients look glossy, tight, and altogether unnatural.

Dissatisfied with traditional facelift limitations, Dr. Jacono developed a fresh technique called the Extended Deep-Plane Facelift. It keeps the skin and muscles together as a unit. This framework is then lifted on a vertical plane, eliminating jowls, deep wrinkles, and sagging pockets of tissue. The results look entirely natural. Downtime is also shorter compared to other facelifts and can be further curtailed with hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatments.

“To me, there is no satisfaction in producing an exaggerated result,” says Dr. Jacono. “I have also noticed that patients are generally unhappy when it’s obvious to other people that they’ve had work done. The Extended Deep-Plane Facelift is the perfect remedy to this problem. It quite literally goes deeper and allows me to make more significant structural changes that hold up over time. In fact, it lasts anywhere between 10 and 15 years. After that, the patient still looks better than they did before they had surgery.”

If Dr. Jacono’s innovations weren’t enough, he has also published widely in medical and scientific journals. He routinely spearheads studies into procedures such as rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, lateral temporal lift, and, of course, facelift. His intention has always been to educate other cosmetic professionals in hopes of improving the plastic surgical sphere.
