Information about temporal brow lift procedures in New York City with Dr. Andrew Jacono.
Today, many men and women are looking for new ways to keep their youthful appearance and add to the aesthetic beauty of their faces. Heavy eyebrows and drooping of the outer corners of the brow, create outer upper eyelid hooding. As we continue to age though, those less invasive non-surgical options may no longer address those concerns.
Temporal Lift Before and After Patient 1: This patient was concerned with her forehead wrinkles and tired, puffy eyes. To address those concerns, he performed a lateral temporal lift to smooth and lift her forehead and a lower eyelid lift.
Dr. Jacono also performed a combination of procedures which included a deep plane facelift and platysmaplasty which addressed her mid and lower face region.
For those patients, a mini-brow lift or a temporal brow lift may be the best option to correct lateral eyebrow dropping.
Also known as a lateral brow lift, mini brow lift, and mini forehead lift, this cosmetic surgery is less invasive than a typical brow lift. It only has one small incision hidden in the hair and using telescopes, the outer 1/3 of the brow and forehead is lifted. People can heal from this procedure over a weekend.
Unlike a traditional brow lift or endoscopic brow lift, a lateral temporal lift does not lift the central forehead and brow. Instead, it arches the brow up at its outer corner. This prevents an overly open-eyed or surprised look. Some may simply want a more classic arched brow even if they are younger and have not experienced aging.
A lateral brow lift accomplishes these goals with small, invisible incisions that are hidden in the hairline. As a result, it is used more often for people who need less dramatic results or in combination with other procedures.
The temporal lift is often used with an eyelid lift, also called a blepharoplasty, which is a procedure that improves the appearance of eyelids and eyes. In addition, it can complement the effects of Botox and other injectables, as these can address deeper lines in the center of the forehead and eyebrows.
Temporal Lift Before and After Patient 2: This patient had a heavy brow which caused her upper eyelids to become droopy. She also had puffiness under her eyes which left her looking tired.
Dr. Jacono performed a temporal lateral lift to lift her forehead and a lower eye lift to reduce the dark circles and puffy under-eye bags. She loves her new awake and refreshed look.
Although lifting the temple region is less invasive than lifting the brows, it still requires incisions. The exact length and type of incisions will depend on the patient’s needs and the extent of the lift. In most cases, the incisions are hidden at least one centimeter beyond the hairline.
Because there are only two small incisions made in this type of surgery on either side of the head, it is often done under local anesthesia. The recovery and downtime following the procedure are usually minimal.
Although they deal with the same area of the face, a temporal lift is very different from a brow lift. Also known as browplasty, a brow lift is a more invasive surgery that lifts the entire forehead. This procedure can effectively get rid of more dramatic signs of aging such as frown lines, forehead lines, and deep grooves between eyebrows.
A temporal lift, on the other hand, lifts only the sides of the face and forehead. It does not affect the middle of the forehead or the area between the brows in any way.
Despite its subtle and minimally invasive approach, lifting the temples can have a dramatic effect on your facial features and your appearance. In addition to having fine lines erased, patients often find that their eyes look more. This procedure can lift and reshape brows to give a more pleasant and youthful appearance.
Dr. Jacono will begin by giving local anesthesia injections in both temples, just past the hairline where the incisions will be made. He will then make two very small, hidden incisions. One on each side just beyond the hairline. This will ensure that the scar is not visible.
He then repositions the underlying tissues upward. This removes wrinkles and fine lines from the inside out. It also smooths and lifts the lateral, or outer, portions of the face. The excess skin is then trimmed, and the incision is closed with small sutures.
Most people will have some soreness after the anesthetic injections wear off. They also may have small amounts of bruising and swelling. These usually dissipate in several days and do not require extensive time off work or other duties. The sutures will be removed around seven days after the procedure.
Although it is a minimally invasive procedure, a mini-brow lift is not right for everyone.
This procedure will help men and women who have drooping or sagging in their brows, temples, or eyes. These are the changes that are most likely to be helped with this procedure. People who are already having other minor cosmetic procedures may also benefit from adding this one.

For many people, the temple lift offers the right blend of subtle youthening and short recovery time.
The best person for this procedure is a person of either gender who wants to improve the appearance of their brows, temples, and outer eyes. In addition, it is important to be in good general health.
Although the time varies with each procedure, most people will spend about an hour having it performed from the time anesthesia is injected to the time the last suture is put into place.
All incisions leave scars. However, the incisions (and temporal brow lift scars ) from this procedure are hidden in the hairline where they are not visible.
Local anesthesia is given before the procedure, so patients will not have pain during the procedure itself. After the procedure, many people experience mild to moderate pain. Dr. Jacono will provide medication to make this pain more manageable.
Because it’s a less-invasive procedure, a temporal brow lift will last a shorter period of time than more in-depth surgeries. You can expect the temporal brow lift surgery to last 3-4 years.
Most people will have mild swelling and, in some cases, mild pain following the procedure. There also may be bruising in the temples and even around the corners of the eyes. This can be reduced by sleeping with your head elevated in the days after surgery.
You should be able to resume normal activities, including work, within a few days of the procedure. The sutures are typically removed within 7 days. You can usually begin strenuous activities such as exercise around two weeks after the procedure.
