How Does Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Work?
Patients who want to tweak their noses without surgery can undergo a non-surgical rhinoplasty. This procedure is a strong alternative to more invasive techniques that require incisions.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty combines injectable fillers with Botox to restore nasal symmetry. These controlled, precise injections can make the nose look significantly more proportional. Results are instantaneous, and unlike surgery, there is no recovery time.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty provides excellent results, but it is not a permanent solution. It cannot make nasal bridges smaller, and only lifts the nasal tip by 2 to 3 millimeters. Because of this, the non-surgical approach is best reserved for patients who only require a minimal amount of work. Other patients should consider surgical rhinoplasty, which permanently alters facial architecture.
Dr. Jacono’s Approach
Generally, Dr. Jacono uses Botox to lift a drooping nasal tip. He injects the solution between the nostrils on the underside of the nose. This raises the nasal tip to a more desirable position.
If a patient wants to smooth their nasal hump, Dr. Jacono uses dermal fillers. The filler he uses most often is Radiesse, which is made of calcium hydroxyl appetite crystals. It provides the most dramatic results, and also lasts the longest compared to hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane and Juvéderm.
How Long Do Non-Surgery Nose Job Results Last?
Unlike a surgical rhinoplasty, which is permanent, non-surgical rhinoplasty lasts up to a year. After the changes have faded, patients should revisit Dr. Jacono for maintenance.
Although repeat visits can be cumbersome, a typical injection session only lasts about 15 minutes. There is also minimal downtime and virtually no discomfort. Bruising and swelling can occur but typically resolve within a few days.
What Are the Risks of a Non-Surgical Nose Job?
For most patients, the only side-effect of non-surgical rhinoplasty is minor redness in the nose. Other common side effects include:
- Mild bruising
- Some swelling
- Minor Nausea
Sometimes, a doctor may overfill the nose, which can cause more severe complications. Dr. Jacono, however, is an expert in non-surgical rhinoplasty and uses less filler, rather than more, to avoid such problems.
