One of the things to keep in mind about facial plastic surgeries is that the effects don’t last forever. Getting a facelift is something you do once, and it lasts for about seven to ten years before your face begins to look its age again.
This is completely normal. Aging is a normal thing, and while a facelift can do a lot to reverse the effects of aging, it can’t stop it completely. But that doesn’t mean that you have a facelift, wait seven to ten years, and then have to put up with wrinkles and saggy skin forever.
You can, in fact, have more facelifts, and there’s nothing medically wrong with that. But how many times can a plastic surgeon perform a facelift surgery?
Of course, there are things you can do to extend the life of your facelift. Avoiding smoking, staying out of the sun, and maintaining a good skin care regimen are all good things you can do to make your skin stay as youthful and vibrant as possible. The better you treat your body, the better your body will look.
But if you really want to know how often you can have a facelift, the answer is that it is definitely possible to get a second facelift, sometimes called a secondary facelift. The procedure will be different, as the surgeon is working with skin that has already been lifted. You’ll need to communicate with your surgeon exactly what you want to get out of the surgery, and Dr. Jacono will be realistic with you about your options.
The point of a secondary facelift, however, is to maintain the natural beauty of the face and not get the overdone look that you see so often in the tabloids when the paparazzi show a celebrity who has plainly had too much work done. We want to avoid that. We want natural beauty, so we’re not going to do procedure after procedure. That said, a secondary facelift is a perfectly fine thing to have, as long as you go into it with realistic expectations.
How many facelifts can you have in a lifetime? There is no magic answer for the number of facelifts that you can have, but Dr. Jacono will always advise you to embrace your natural beauty and not rely on too much plastic surgery, which will eventually look fake and, well, plastic. Dr. Jacono is the best plastic surgeon in New York City, and he doesn’t want his patients to look anything but their best.
The more facelift procedures you have, the more you’ll get the appearance of stretching or pulling on the skin, and soon that starts to look fake and unnatural. That’s what we’re trying to avoid.
There are other nonsurgical procedures that board-certified surgeon Dr. Jacono can perform to give a youthful appearance without the need to undergo facelift surgery. Instead of undergoing multiple surgeries, for example, you could have dermal fillers to remove fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, and facial aging. Facial rejuvenation might be the better route.
